Alden Gallery presents Raúl Gonzalez III, Kirk Jenkins, Sean McCabe, and Paul Pedulla

Opening on Friday, June 16, 2017, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Provincetown, MA: The Alden Gallery will present a show of new work by Raúl Gonzalez III, Kirk Jenkins, Sean McCabe, and Paul Pedulla, opening on Friday, June 16, 2017, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the gallery’s exhibit space at 423 Commercial St. Drinks and refreshments will be served; the gallery is open to the public and free. The show will be on view through June 29.

Brought up in the border town of El Paso, Texas, artist Raúl Gonzalez III does work in ink and coffee-stained paper that, he says, “explores issues of violence, hyper-masculinity, and my own cultural background, and reflects my interests in the human figure, early American cartooning, and Japanese Samurai prints.

The materials that Australian-born, Miami-based Kirk Jenkins works with, such as wood, tar, charcoal, natural oils, and metal, all come directly or indirectly from the same place. “I was born from the earth and shall one day return to the earth,” he says.

For this show, Sean McCabe riffs on views of MacMillan Wharf in Provincetown. “I use color and line to express both tranquility and kinetic energy,” he says. “These scenes are told through small hints of recognizable elements but often are purposefully vague as to allow a certain degree of personal association.”

“My paintings are representational yet abstract,” Paul Pedulla says of his pared-down, acrylic-on-canvas work. “What you see is a moment, one that reveals a relationship between a building and sky, a road and the landscape, the sky and the sea, figures in an environment, or a window and the world it views.

The gallery will be open 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. daily. Press contact: aldengallery@gmail.com or (646) 483-8164.
