Alden Gallery launches its 2016 season with “Meme”—May 27 – June 23, 2016
The Alden Gallery will launch its 2016 season with “Meme,” a spring group show opening on Friday, May 27, 2016, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the gallery’s exhibit space at 423 Commercial St. Drinks and refreshments will be served. The exhibit will be on view through June 23.
For this group show, the Alden Gallery asked all its artists to contribute new work that relates to the definition of the word “meme” (which shares an etymology with Mem-orial Day): “an idea, behavior, or style that spreads from person to person within a culture.” The artists are: Ed Christie, Kevin Cyr, Cathleen Daley, Alice Denison, Joerg Dressler, Robert Glisson, Raúl Gonzalez III, Paul Kelly, Sean McCabe, Catherine McCarthy, Robert Morgan, Paul Pedulla, Linda Reedy, Anne Salas, Heather Toland, Mike Wright, and Laurence Young.
The gallery will be open Friday 6-10 p.m.; Saturday-Sunday 11 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Monday 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Memorial Day weekend. It will remain open Fridays through Sundays till mid-June, when hours will expand to a daily schedule through Labor Day.
